About
Hello! Welcome!
I’m Kendra Pollock, and I think this is the part where I’m supposed to tell you all kinds of impressive things about myself so you know that I’m a Serious Psychologist™. But I think the most important thing you should know about me is that I’m going to be in this thing with you. You aren’t going to leave a meeting with me more confused or overwhelmed than you started. And I will answer as many questions as it takes for you to deeply understand what is going on for your child AND what to do about it. Promise.
But just so you know I am actually qualified to do this, let me get the “I’m very impressive” stuff out of the way.
I’m a Licensed Educational Psychologist and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, which mostly puts a very long list of fancy letters after my name in my email signature. I graduated summa cum laude from Dominican University with a degree in Psychology and then went on to get my dual masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Educational Psychology from California State University East Bay. I’ve taught graduate level courses in social-emotional learning and behavior management and give trainings and workshops on a whole range of topics all over the Bay Area.
I have a special fondness for “bright but difficult” kids and have never met a behavioral problem that intimidated me (even ones that ended in a police report). My favorite thing about my job is that I get to take all of the disparate pieces of information about a student and put the puzzle together that explains what’s happening for them. I’ve worked extensively in private education, as well as in public education both in affluent and impoverished/exploited communities (You can read more about my commitment to social justice here). And I’ve sat on both sides of the IEP table as a parent advocate and a school district psychologist.
I can’t wait to hear from you. Supporting families, students and teachers lights me up and makes me excited to go to work every day. If you are feeling stressed about your child’s education or general well-being, please reach out. It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming and I’ll work with you so that it doesn’t.
Be well,
Kendra
